Description

The Micro channel robot laser welding equipment  mainly includes main body welding room, electric control cabinet, welding power, fume and dust treatment etc. Total area about 28 square meters (4m*7m). The welding job of various model microchannel radiators is conducted by a robot and laser welding system together with a loading / unloading worker.

2. process
Microchannel robot welding equipment is used in the welding of microchannel manifolds, transfer blocks and mounting brackets. The main working process is as follows. First, fixture is prepared according to the model of microchannel manifolds, and then place the transfer block and mounting bracket on the loading work position of the positioner, then the manifold is placed in position, the positioner starts to rotate to welding position after the work pieces are fixed. The robot carries the laser head to do laser welding in coordination with the positioner.
This equipment is with manual loading/unloading, automatic control and it’s very easy to operate. All the electric components are imported branded products which are reliable in performance and have long service life. This equipment is with a sealed shell and has a beautiful appearance. Multiple flexible fixture which can match various models are equipped to fit batch production for various products. And the production efficiency is high.

①、Robot welding job is conducted inside the welding room which is sealed and the arc light is contained. A monitoring window is set on the maintenance door. Monitoring camera is in place as well which allows the operator to check the situation inside the welding room.

②、Not only can the single door double work position, 3R positioner with flexible welding platform realize quick change fixture for different products, but also allows the robot to keep optimal welding posture in every welding spot to guarantee the welding efficiency and the welding quality.

1. Micro channel robot laser welding room
The welding room is approximately 3600mm*3200mm*2500mm. The robot welding job is done inside the welding room. Arc light is contained. A monitoring window is set on the maintenance door. Monitoring camera is in place as well which allows the operator to check the situation inside the welding room.
2. positioner system
This 2-work-position 3-axis positioner is flexible in its load capacity, tooling radius and mounting flange spacing which allows working in both work positions. I.E, when A work position is inside the welding room for welding job, B work position is outside and work piece can be loaded, thus the efficiency is maximized. The axis of each work position can do 360°, allowing optimal welding posture for each and every welding spot.

3. Micro channel robot laser welding fixture

Since this project needs to cater for maximum number of product models and specifications, multiple quick-change fixture sets needs to be designed. Each fixture tooling is compatible for multiple models and specifications. Exact fixture quantity will be discussed by both parties and supplied by party B according to equipment configuration quotation list. Equipped with handle, the fixtures will be mounted on hole system platform and use a fast locking pin to achieve quick change of the fixture which is very simple and quick. 3 sets of fixture can be mounted on each hole system platform.

For TR series product listed in appendix 1, the opening angle on the transfer block, mounting brackets and the manifolds are all 180 degree. The transfer block and mounting brackets is designed with independent locating mechanism. In order to achieve the compatibility, the locating mechanism is fixed on a linear sliding rail and equipped with a fixing pin. Before welding, product specification and models needs to be identified manually, so that corresponding locating mechanism can be selected length wise and locked with the locating pin.

Transfer block is completely located by 2 planes and 1 pin. Mounting bracket is completely located by 2 planes and excircle. The support mechanism of transfer block and mounting bracket is both seated on spring mechanism which can float up and down, as illustrated in the picture below. There’s a locating V-shape block on each independent locating mechanism to locate the manifolds. The V-shape block can be adjusted in height direction using shims.

At the end of manifolds, firstly the end plane is used to initially locate the manifolds axially. The pneumatic cylinder is equipped with relief valve. Press the groove on the manifolds to a certain position using the handle manually to achieve the precise axial locating and then the pneumatic cylinder press tight the groove to achieve circumference locating of the manifolds.


The entire process is: First, adjust V-shape blocks of the manifolds to the same height. Then adjust each independent locating mechanism to position according to each model and specification and locked with pin and press tight. Then place corresponding transfer blocks, mounting brackets and manifolds in place. Manually press down the locating card to the groove. Pneumatic cylinder actions to achieve axial and circumferential locating. Rotation press tight cylinder actions to press tight the manifolds against V-shape blacks to achieve locating and pressing tight. Press down the spring. The spring provides tightening force needed for welding the transfer block, mounting bracket and the manifolds while at the same time makes sure it won’t affect the locating of the manifolds due to the transfer blocks and mounting bracket errors.


As to TR series, using this method, 4 fixtures can be designed for the laser welding of 34 different specifications and models。 Fixture number 1 can be designed for 19 specifications and models including TR244,TR246,TR248,TR249,TR274,TR275,TR276,TR277,TR278,TR279,TR280,TR281,TR282,TR283,TR284,TR285,TR286,TR287,TR288。 Fixture number 2 for 9 specifications and models including TR243,TR247,TR252,TR253,TR299,TR300,TR301,TR302,TR303. Fixture number 3 can cater for 5 specifications and models including TR214,TR236,TR293,TR306,TR309. Fixture number 4 for 3 specifications and models including TR292,TR310,TR311. Exact solution is subject to detailed designing.

4. ROBOT SYSTEM

FANUC M20iA 6-axis robot is used. Load capacity 20kg. Maximum motion radius 1811mm. Re-positioning accuracy ±0.08mm.

5. LASER SYSTEM

Laser system is Trudisk 2002 model from TRUMPF


Welding laser head is BEO D70 laser welding head from TRUMPF.
